What Difference Does it Make? - Part 1
Have you ever asked yourself:
"What difference does it make?"
…as you hit the snooze button instead of getting up and exercising, as you order a pizza instead of cooking the vegetables you have in your fridge, as you pour yourself another glass of wine instead of drinking the glass of water you told yourself you would drink…
What happens next?
You push exercising out until tomorrow again.
You order the pizza again.
You drink another glass of wine.
Later, you pass by the mirror and remember why you planned to start exercising.
You see the people around you buzzing with energy and remember why you bought those vegetables.
You have another crappy night of sleep, and remember why you had decided to drink water between every glass of wine.
And then, you have to deal with the shame of not doing what you said you would do again.
You have to deal with the disappointment of giving up before you really even started.
Hitting the snooze button, ordering the pizza, and drinking that next glass of wine are easy.
You are hitting the “easy” button in these moments.
And this is exactly what your primal brain wants you to do.
But is the “easy” button really easier?
Is looking at yourself in the mirror and not loving the reflection you see easier?
Is not having the energy to live the life you want to live easier?
Is having another restless night and then drudging through the next day easier?
Is feeling the weight of shame and disappointment on top of everything else easier?
I want you to ask yourself this next: Is this worth it?
Is this 7 min snooze worth it?
Is this pizza worth it?
Is this glass of wine worth it?
Your primal brain will answer “yes.” every time! But your primal brain doesn’t care about tomorrow. Your primal brain doesn’t care about 20 mins from now.
But YOU do.
Decide what you want.
Decide what is really worth it.
And go after it. 💪🏽
