Just Start
My husband and I are doing the #75hard challenge.
We are 3 days away from completion.
During the challenge, you decide on a "diet".
We decided to remove 2 things from our diet: gluten & sugar.
It has been 72 days since we have eaten either.
Out of the two, surprisingly, sugar was the harder thing to give up.
At first, we would avoid the bakery in grocery stores.
I would find myself sneaking glances at the ice cream aisle and all the people in it.
It was especially hard when my friend insisted we go to Cold Stone when we were only 2 weeks in.
I could feel my discomfort throughout the entire time we were in there.
It was obvious.
I was running my hands through my hair, clenching my fists, crossing and uncrossing my arms as my friend was making his ice cream selection.
But I walked out of there empty-handed.
And I felt proud. I felt stronger. I felt better than when I walked in there.
It was interesting to go through this process.
It was actually a significant stepping stone for me.
Now, I can walk through the bakery and the ice cream aisle with ease.
I still want those things and I will have them again, but I want them less.
Removing them from my daily diet has changed everything.
Because I know how much better I feel without them.
I don't have that post-eating grogginess.
I no longer feel like I have a gut bomb.
I don't have to peel my eyeballs open the next morning.
I feel better, overall.
And my husband says I look better (and I choose to believe him 😂).
If you are trying to change something about your life, trying to improve it somehow, I want you to know it is possible.
You just have to start doing it.
Stop talking about it.
Stop thinking about it.
Just start.
