Rinse & Repeat

When we are in a negative state, feeling a negative emotion, we usually want to feel better.

Makes sense.

To truly feel better, to “get to the other side of a negative emotion” requires a powerful process.

This process allows the negativity to be there, so you can get to the other side, to the positive side, to the side you want to be on.

But I don’t mean just feel a twinge of positivity, I mean really be able to live in that positive place.

Our thoughts create our emotions.

So often times, we can just think a positive thought to feel better.

And that works, but it is a temporary fix.

You may feel better in the moment.

You may be able to push the negativity away by busying yourself with something else.

You may be able to ignore that it’s there for awhile.

But it will come back if you don’t move through the negative emotion.

It will come back when something else comes up, at the most inopportune time.

And then, it may feel worst, heavier even.

Because you have been ignoring it.

So then what?

Let’s get back to that process I mentioned earlier.

It is time to allow for the negativity. Let it be there. Don’t try to will it away.

Just sit with it. Breathe it in. Welcome it in.

Let it wash over you.

Keep breathing it in.

Be aware of where it is in your body.

Imagine the negative emotion washing over you.

It doesn’t hurt. It might be a little uncomfortable.

But you can handle it.

Do this for 2-3 minutes.

Notice how you feel.

Probably better, probably lighter, probably not as negative.

This process makes all the difference.

You are leaps closer to getting to the other side, to where you want to be.

The positive side will start to become visible.

Rinse and repeat until you are on the positive side, feeling how you want to feel.
